It collects, studies, reposits and exhibits documents, photos, objects on the construction and evolution of the company, Krasnogorsk itself and the optical industry of Russia as a whole.
It explains the whole scope of scientific and manufacturing activity of the company starting 1927, exhibits illustrative samples and mock-ups of products, and introduces its visitors to the prominent figures of the enterprise.
It keeps up the traditions, unites generations of plant workers, helps attract and train future specialists.
Establishing the Museum of Military and Labor Glory in the House of Culture of the plant.
The originator of the museum is N.M. Yegorov, Director of KMZ. The purpose is to preserve the history of Krasnogorsk and the plant, its labor achievements, and celebrate its best workers. One exhibition takes up 28 m2 .
More than 192 thousand visitors from 1965 till 1980.
1980
The museum got a new “home” and was located in the area of 120 m 2 , its fund making approximately 2000 units.
1997
The museum returns to the House of Culture of the plant Salyut, doubling its area. For the first time samples of military items were exhibited.
2017
In honour of the 75 th anniversary of KMZ a two-storey plant building of 500 m2 was restored for the museum. On April 18 th the renovated KMZ museum welcomed its first visitors.

There are guided tours for schoolchildren and students not only in the museum itself, but also in the manufacturing workshops of the enterprise, which has a positive influence on the future employment of young specialists.
Within the campaign “I am a Russian citizen” the first and main document is presented to young Krasnogorians within the museum walls – their passport. Meetings with veterans and prominent figures of the enterprise are held here.
These events bring generations together, teach people to be patriots of their city and the state.
Expositions devoted to people whose lives were closely intertwined with the history of the enterprise – Sergei Zverev, Victor Nekrasov, Ivan Turygin and many others. Krasnogorians often recognize their grandparents in the pictures exhibited here.
